At Divers English, we bring high-quality private English lessons directly to you through Google Meet. Our online lessons offer the same structured and personalized learning experience as our in-person lessons, with the added benefit of convenience and flexibility. Whether you're at home, at work, or traveling, your English learning journey continues without interruption.

Lesson Styles

We offer personalized private lessons that cater to your unique learning style and goals. You can choose from two flexible lesson styles, each designed to enhance your English proficiency:

STYLE A. Book-Based Lessons
Work closely with your teacher to select the perfect textbook and workbook from our curated collection. Together, you’ll progress through the materials at a pace that suits your learning needs, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of each topic.

STYLE B. Free Conversation / Guided Conversation
Immerse yourself in English through everyday conversations. Focus entirely on improving your speaking and listening skills in a relaxed setting. Your teacher will guide the discussions, selecting topics that interest you or that will help you reach your goals. You’ll also receive a file with materials related to the day’s topics, providing a resource to reinforce what you’ve learned.

Combination Options
Flexibility is key! You can choose to combine styles (A + B) to create a learning experience that’s perfectly tailored to your needs. And if you change your mind later, that’s no problem – we’re here to support your evolving goals.

Lesson Time

When it comes to mastering a new language, time is a crucial factor. Unlike many other language schools that offer 40-minute lessons, we provide a full 1-hour session for every private lesson. This extra time makes a significant difference in your learning experience.

More Time for Practice:
With 20 additional minutes in each session, you’ll have more time to practice speaking, listening, and engaging in meaningful conversations. This ensures you’re not just learning but truly absorbing and applying the language in real-life situations.

Deeper Understanding:
The extended lesson time allows us to dive deeper into topics, ensuring you fully understand the material rather than just skimming the surface. You’ll have more opportunities to ask questions, clarify doubts, and reinforce your learning.

Personalized Attention:
More time means more personalized attention. Your teacher can focus on your specific needs and learning pace, making each lesson more effective and tailored to your goals.

Better Value:
Our 1-hour lessons offer better value for your time and money. You’re investing in a richer, more comprehensive learning experience that helps you achieve fluency faster.

Free 30 minute Trial Lessons

We offer a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson to all new students aged 15 and above. This session is designed to help us understand your current level of English and identify the best starting point for your learning journey.

What to Expect:
During the trial lesson, your teacher will assess your speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. Based on this evaluation, you’ll be placed in one of six levels: Foundation, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, or Advanced. This ensures that you start learning at the level that’s just right for you.

Personalized Feedback:
After the trial lesson, you’ll receive a trial paper. This document will outline your strengths, areas for improvement, and personalized tips to help you progress in your English learning. It will also include specific advice from your teacher to guide your practice.

Language Support:
If your English level is not yet strong enough for effective communication, don’t worry. We’ll contact you in Japanese to ensure you can easily register and start learning at a pace that suits you.

Get Ready:
To help you prepare for the trial lesson, here are a few questions your teacher might ask:

"Can you tell me a little about yourself?"
"Why do you want to learn English?"
"What do you find most challenging about learning English?"
"Have you studied English before? If so, what did you focus on?"

These questions are designed to help us understand your goals and learning style so we can tailor your lessons accordingly.

Next Steps After the Trial:
Following your trial lesson, we’ll reach out via email or Google Meet to discuss the next steps if you’re interested in continuing with our program. This email will provide information on how to enroll, finalize your lesson schedule, and choose the lesson style that best suits your needs. We’ll also be available to answer any questions you might have about the course or the learning process.

Flexibility in Level Placement:
Please note that while your initial level placement is based on the trial lesson, we understand that learning is dynamic. As you progress, there may be opportunities to adjust your level to ensure you’re always being challenged appropriately and making the best possible progress.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a smooth learning experience, please have the following:

A stable internet connection
A laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone
Google Meet (free to use, no downloads required on a computer)
Headphones or earphones (recommended for better audio quality)
A quiet learning environment

Book-Based Courses (Style A)

If you choose to follow a book-based course, we’ll work together to select a book that aligns with your interests and goals. We want to ensure that your learning experience is both enjoyable and effective.

Book Selection Process:
Once we’ve discussed your level and reasons for learning English, we’ll recommend a selection of books that best suit your needs. After making your choice, we’ll order the book for you. It typically takes about a week for the book to arrive.

Interim Lessons:
While waiting for your book, your lessons won’t miss a beat. During this time, you’ll follow one of our other lesson styles:

Personalized content designed by your teacher.
Free Conversation (Style B): Focus on speaking and listening skills.

Personal Book Options:
If you prefer to purchase your own book or already have a book in mind, that’s perfectly fine as long as the book is in English. We’re flexible and want to work with materials that interest you and keep you motivated.

Customized Learning:
The key is finding a book that you’ll enjoy and that will make your learning experience rewarding. We’ll provide you with a list of recommended books and their prices once we understand your level and your specific reasons for learning English.
