Improve Your Diving English Anywhere!
At Divers English, we bring high-quality private English lessons directly to you through Google Meet. Our online lessons offer the same structured and personalized learning experience as our in-person lessons, with the added benefit of convenience and flexibility. Whether you're at home, at work, or traveling, your English learning journey continues without interruption.
Lesson Styles
At Divers English, we offer personalized private lessons specifically designed for diving professionals and enthusiasts who want to improve their English skills in a diving context. You can choose from two flexible lesson styles that cater to your unique learning needs.
STYLE B. Personalized File Lessons
Begin your diving English journey with an empty file that will soon become your customized diving guide. Your teacher will create tailored lesson content based on real diving scenarios, including vocabulary, communication strategies, and customer interactions in English. Over time, your file will fill with essential resources, from diving terms to practical conversation exercises, helping you become more proficient and confident in communicating with English-speaking divers. Once your file is complete, you'll receive a new one, ensuring continuous growth in your learning.
STYLE C. Free Conversation / Guided Conversation
Immerse yourself in diving-related English conversations. Focus on improving your speaking and listening skills through role-playing real-world diving scenarios. Your teacher will guide the conversation, covering essential topics such as dive briefings, customer interactions, emergency procedures, and casual conversations with English-speaking divers. You’ll also receive a file containing key vocabulary and discussion points related to each lesson, so you can continue to build your diving-specific English skills.
Combination Options
Flexibility is important! You can choose to combine both Style B (Personalized File Lessons) and Style C (Free Conversation) to create a balanced learning experience. This way, you'll have structured materials while also enhancing your conversational skills. If you decide to change styles later, we can easily accommodate your evolving goals.
Free 30 minute Trial Lessons
We offer a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson to all new diving professionals and enthusiasts aged 15 and above. This session is designed to help us understand your current level of English, especially in diving-related contexts, and identify the best starting point for your learning journey.
What to Expect:
During the trial lesson, your teacher will assess your speaking, listening, and comprehension skills, with a focus on diving-related scenarios. Based on this evaluation, you’ll be placed in one of six levels: Foundation, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, or Advanced. This ensures that you start learning at the level that’s just right for you, tailored to diving communication.
Personalized Feedback:
After the trial lesson, you’ll receive a feedback document. This document will outline your strengths, areas for improvement, and personalized tips to help you progress in your English learning for diving. It will also include specific advice from your teacher to guide your practice and address the diving situations you’re most likely to encounter.
Language Support:
If your English level is not yet strong enough for effective communication in diving, don’t worry. We’ll contact you in Japanese to ensure you can easily register and start learning at a comfortable pace.
Get Ready:
To help you prepare for the trial lesson, here are a few questions your teacher might ask:
-
"Can you tell me a little about your diving experience?"
-
"Why do you want to improve your diving-related English?"
-
"What do you find most challenging about communicating in English during dives?"
-
"Have you studied English before, especially related to diving or other professional contexts?"
These questions are designed to help us understand your goals and learning style so we can tailor your lessons accordingly.
Next Steps After the Trial:
Following your trial lesson, we’ll reach out via email or Google Meet to discuss the next steps if you’re interested in continuing with our program. This email will provide information on how to enroll, finalize your lesson schedule, and choose the lesson style (Personalized File or Free Conversation) that best suits your needs. We’ll also be available to answer any questions you might have about the course or the learning process.
Flexibility in Level Placement:
Please note that while your initial level placement is based on the trial lesson, we understand that learning is dynamic. As you progress, there may be opportunities to adjust your level to ensure you’re always being challenged appropriately and making the best possible progress, especially in real-world diving scenarios.
Lesson Time
When it comes to mastering English for diving, time is a crucial factor. Unlike many other language schools that offer 40-minute lessons, we provide a full 1-hour session for every private lesson. This extra time makes a significant difference in your learning experience.
More Time for Practice:
With 20 additional minutes in each session, you’ll have more time to practice diving-related conversations, listening, and engaging in real-world scenarios. This ensures you’re not just learning, but applying English skills in practical situations relevant to diving.
Deeper Understanding:
The extended lesson time allows us to dive deeper into topics, ensuring you fully understand the language and its application in diving contexts. You’ll have more opportunities to ask questions, clarify doubts, and reinforce your learning.
Personalized Attention:
More time means more personalized attention. Your teacher can focus on your specific needs—whether that’s diving vocabulary, customer interactions, or preparing for dive briefings—making each lesson more effective and tailored to your goals.
Better Value:
Our 1-hour lessons offer better value for your time and money. You’re investing in a richer, more comprehensive learning experience that helps you achieve fluency in English for diving faster.

No Book Required: Personalized File Lessons
At Divers English, we don’t rely on pre-published textbooks. Instead, we offer Personalized File Lessons (Style B), where your learning materials are created specifically for you, based on real-world diving scenarios. This approach ensures that the content is directly relevant to your diving profession and English-learning needs.
How It Works:
Your teacher will design custom lesson materials that fit your current level and goals. These materials will be stored in a personal file, covering essential diving vocabulary, customer service phrases, safety procedures, and conversation skills. Each lesson builds on the previous one, and as your file grows, so will your confidence and fluency in diving-related English.
Why No Textbook?
-
Tailored Content: Instead of a one-size-fits-all textbook, we provide personalized content that addresses the specific needs of diving professionals.
-
Relevant Material: All materials are directly applicable to diving scenarios, ensuring you're learning useful language for your profession.
-
Flexibility: Your lessons evolve based on your progress, allowing us to focus on what you need most as you advance.
